Fort McMurray

Our Club roots go back to September 17th, 1976 when 13 enthusiastic Nobles met to form a Shrine Club. The Club is still going strong 20 years later. The Club has and will prosper due to the caliber, dedication and hard work of the Fort McMurray Nobles who make up our Club.

The Club has always had a community presence. Fund raising efforts have continued over all 20 years. In the early years many hours were spent in the local malls selling Christmas cakes, pudding and shortbread. Currently our fund raising includes the annual circus, the Ronald MacDonald/Shrine Golf Tournament and the Athabasca River Break-up raffle with funds supporting the Shriners Hospital for Children. Over the years the Legion Ladies Auxiliary has presented us with cheques to support our Philanthropy.

In the early days we transported needy children to Edmonton for the Shrine Circus and in 1988 we began to sponsor our own local Circus. Over the years the people of Fort McMurray have supported the Circus and it has been the main source of our charitable funds as well as lots of fun for the Nobles and Ladies.

We welcome you to contact us for more information on our Club at the Al Shamal Shrine Office.
