Northern Lights Shrine Club

The Northern Lights Shrine Club was initially formed in Edson, Alberta, in the year 1992, as the Edson Shrine Club. In 2009 the club’s name was changed to the Northern Lights Shrine Club.

Our Club meets on the Second Tuesday of each month, at about 6:00 PM, from March to November, alternating between Edson and Drayton Valley. No meetings are held in December, January, or February.

The Edson meeting is normally held at the Edson Legion and the Drayton Valley meeting at the Lakeview Inn Oakroom. Nominations are in September, Elections in October, and Installations are in November.

Special Events

Toll Gate: The Toll Gate event is held on or about the 3rd Saturday of June each year along the highway in Edson. This is the clubs main fund-raising event and has occurred every year since 1995.

Soap Box Car Parade Performances: The club’s crack team of precession drivers perform meticulous and miraculous feats of driving excellence in their 7 little yellow Go-Cart like vehicles in several parades throughout the summer months. The July 1, Drayton Valley Parade is never missed.

Outdoor Furniture Construction: A group of extremely skilled NLSC craftsmen construct a variety of outdoor furniture including Picnic Tables, Wishing Wells, and Planters. These are sold or raffled off.
