2025 Parades

Ranfurly - August 10, 2025

On Saturday August 10, we participated in the 2nd last parade of the season. It took place in the small community of Ranfurly, Alberta about 1 ¼ hours east of Edmonton.
Once we got to Ranfurly, it was off to the community hall for a pancake breakfast. As usual it was very good.
Because the town of Ranfurly is small the parade route consisted of twice around the town, about 2 kms or just over 1.23 miles.
The kids love this parade because there is so much candy tossed out by the participants.
After the parade the Director’s Staff members went over the Rob Bown’s farm for a pulled pork, salad, veggies and dessert luncheon. The food was excellent and everyone really enjoyed the socializing and beverages.
Just another great day!!!

Vegreville - August 6, 2025

On Wednesday, the Al Shamal Shriners Directors’ Staff and TLC Units were in the annual Vegreville Agricultural Society Fair Parade.
A large percentage of Vegreville’s population is of Ukrainian Canadian descent, and it is home to the Vegreville egg, the world’s second largest pysanka (Ukrainian Easter egg).
There were a lot of entries and the parade was very long. Spectators from far and wide came to see the parade and the kids loved all the candy being tossed out. The was just perfect, not too hot and no rain.
The Director’s Staff Unit members were out in force, which was great to see.
After the parade there was a luncheon put on by the local lady’s auxiliary and awards presentation. Although we did not get an award this year, we still had lots of fun and enjoyed getting the word out about what Shriners and Shrine Hospitals do to support children with various medical conditions.
Life is good!!!

Irma - August 2, 2025

On Saturday the Al Shamal Shriners – Director’s Staff and other Shrine Units attended the annual parade in the small town of Irma, Alberta. The days started off with a pancake breakfast at the local firehall followed by the parade. Then twice around the town – LOL. It took about 45 minutes in total.
After the parade was over we went over to our Shriner friend Richards for a lunch that was attended by about 25 Shriners and guests.
Just another great day!!!
